Hell's Angels in 1/72 scale

On a previous post  I mentioned on the blog that I'd seen some Hell's Angels / bikers in plastic in 1/72 scale in a board-game based on a series called "Sons of Anarchy".

I've never seen the series and I only played the board-game once, but what really interested were the figures.

My good mate Carlos was having a clear-out during the lockdown and when we got together after the distancing restrictions had eased he came round and gave me a dozen or so of these bikers. Lucky me !

I test painted a couple of them over the weekend and they do look the business.

The figures all have the same pose unfortunately, but I think that with some cutting and converting, a few head swaps, and maybe cannibalizing the Italeri 1/72 German motorcycles and combos, I could get a nice gang of marauding bikers for a near-future / post-apocalyptic / zombie-dawn-of-the-dead kind of game scenario.

These new recruits have just graduated off the Police Academy painting table (see previous post here) and are ready for action in a forthcoming modern / dystopian future / post-apocalyptic wargame.

1/72 Scale Secret Service Agents / Bodyguards Conversions

The 1/72 "pistoleros" conversions from a previous post are now painted and finished, and in their black suits, they couldn't be anything else but Secret Service Agents

So below in their new job they're posing here flanking a couple of high-ranking politicians.

The guy with the red-tie is loosely based on someone who seems to be constantly in the news recently....

Figures are all 1/72 scale Dapol hard-plastic railway worker figures, with some modifications and all with completely new heads.

Modern / Post-Apoc ; Police - SWAT - Paramilitary - 1/72

Working at present on a bunch of generic modern-day Police / SWAT/ Paramilitary Law Enforcement types for modern / post-apoc game scenarios

These are a mix of figures from various brands, Esci US 1990s Infantry, Zvezda US Infantry, Revell US & German Modern Infantry, an Esci / Italeri US vietnam war figure, Orion Modern Russian with a headswap, even a couple of Matchbox 1980s British Paras have snook in there.

The guys with the cops' typical peaked caps got their heads from the Revell Kriegsmarine WWII German Navy set. The heads were added as per this article on the MiniatureZone website.

The armoured vehicles are repainted Matchbox Hot-Wheels cars.

The cars were given new wheels taken off some old Russian trucks.

More pictures will follow as work progresses on these guys.

Modern "Pistoleros" - 1/72 scale conversions

Two suited Uzi toting figures that could be either good guys or bad´uns.

These are conversions from a couple of different sets. Anyone hazard as guess as to which sets have been used to make the figures ?

"Sr. Presidente" in 1/72 Scale

This is one of the main players in a game scenario, Sr. Presidente.

1-72 scale modern wargame figure Mr. President Airfix Conversion with Caesar 20mm head

A quick and easy conversion of an Airfix / Dapol railway figure with some trimming and a head taken off a Caesar figure.

The Mercedes in the background is a Cararama car.

Sr. Presidente and Vice-Presidente on the balcony of the presidential palace.

In the background, as always, a strong police presence.

More 1/72 Post Apocalyptic Madness

Some more pictures of the "post-apoc" figure conversions I started off some months ago.

(LINK 1) (LINK 2)

I'm pleased with the way the head-swaps have worked out on the modern figures.

They are mostly Caesar with a few Revell moderns thrown in (US and Germans if I remember rightly) and the majority of the head swaps with caps coming off Imex Korean War figures and a few Revell DAK.

The bearded long-haired para-military guy above is an Orion modern-Russian with a head taken from an Emhar Viking oarsman.
Comments and / or suggestions are more than welcome.

Cheers, John

1/72 Sci-Fi / Near Future / Post Apocalyptic

Following on from the previous post in November (LINK), a couple of pictures of some completed "1/72 sci-fi / near-future" figure conversions.

A "Mad-Max" type punk-rocker sporting a colourful mohican haircut

The head came off an Esci WW2 Paratrooper.

 The Law - Police / Military / Control-Troopers.

The riot-helmets with visors are heads taken from the Revell German KSK

20mm / 1:72 Sci-Fi / Near Future / Post-Apoc Conversions

Quick update on the Sci-Fi / Post-Apoc front.

A new painted "Control Trooper" sporting a riot helmet. He's accompanied by a Stryker from the "World Order" policing forces.

I've seen a lot of 15mm Sci-Fi figures on various blogs that have really inspired me into getting into the genre.

Unfortunately 15mm metals are out (maybe at least until I retire that is) as I've enough 1:72 plastic to sink a battleship. Besides which, my first love has always been plastic 20mm / 1:72 scale so I decided to try my hand at converting some figures from various modern-day sets to see how they turned out.

These are some of the first attempts and I'm quite pleased how they're coming along.

I've cut off the ends of the gun barrels - I think it makes them look like fairly reasonable future "blast" weapons.

Abandoned Tram

A few weeks ago my mate Iván phoned me and said he'd found a 1/72 scale model tram lying abandoned in the gutter and immediately thought of me.

I like to think he thought of me because of the 1/72 tram, not me lying in the gutter - as a respectable middle-aged man I now no longer end up in the gutter after a mad Saturday night out.

It's a promotional model of some kind that the local tram company must have been using at some event, and must have been just slung away when they finished with the promotion.

It's a bit scratched, but it looks the business and all it needs is a bit more dirtying up and we've got a nice scenery piece for a modern-day / post-apocalyptic game.

Thanks Iván.
